This Cookie Policy explains how Afruence (Pty) Ltd uses cookies and similar technologies on www.afruence.com and across the member, partner and studio portals. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy and Disclaimer.
Section 01
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a website. Cookies allow a website to remember your actions, preferences and authentication state across pages and visits. We also use closely related browser-storage technologies (such as localStorage) for the same lawful purposes; references to “cookies” in this policy include those technologies.
Section 02
Cookies we use
Strictly Necessary — always on
These cookies are required for the website and the member, partner and studio portals to function. They cannot be disabled and are not used for analytics or marketing.
- afruence_session — Laravel session cookie that keeps members, partners and studio users signed in.
- XSRF-TOKEN — CSRF protection for forms (placement applications, surveys, partner briefs, concierge requests).
- afruence_cookie_choice — remembers that you have responded to our cookie banner, so it is not shown on every visit.
- Survey and intake tokens — secure single-use links stored server-side and passed in the link URL, not used for advertising.
- Form submission context — non-permission browser context such as timezone, locale, viewport size, referrer and campaign parameters is submitted with forms to support security, routing and operational review. We do not request exact GPS location.
Functional — consent-based
Activated only with consent. These cookies make the experience smoother but are not essential.
- Remembering portal preferences such as bulletin layout, concierge filters and saved member list views.
- Pre-filling intake fields where a member or partner has previously begun an application or brief on the same device.
Analytics — consent-based
Used only where you have given consent. We measure aggregate, de-identified usage patterns so we can improve the discovery experience and the studio operating tools.
- Counting page views, session duration and high-level navigation flows.
- Understanding which member-facing and partner-facing journeys complete or are abandoned, in aggregate only.
We do not sell, share or trade analytics data with advertising networks. We do not build advertising profiles of members, partners or visitors.
Third-party cookies
Where we embed services from carefully selected partners (for example, secure document storage, email deliverability, fraud and abuse prevention), those providers may set their own cookies under their own privacy and cookie notices. We keep this list deliberately short and review it regularly.
Section 03
Your choices
When you first visit afruence.com you will be presented with a cookie banner. Your response is stored locally on your device for 180 days, after which we will ask again.
You can change your choice at any time by clearing your browser data for this site, or by writing to admin@afruence.com. Members and partners may also raise a data-rights request from inside the portal.
Most browsers let you view, manage and delete cookies in the privacy or security section of their settings. Disabling strictly necessary cookies will prevent the portals, intake forms and authentication flows from working.
Section 04
Legal basis
We rely on the “legitimate interests” basis under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA) for strictly necessary cookies, and on your explicit consent for functional and analytics cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
Section 05
Updates
We will update this Cookie Policy from time to time. The “Last Updated” date at the top of this page reflects the latest revision. Material changes will be highlighted through the cookie banner or by email to active members and partners.
Section 06
Contact
Questions about cookies, your consent or your data rights can be sent to the Afruence Information Officer at admin@afruence.com.
